Webinar Panel Overview:

Beyond Research Ethics: Towards Ethical-Reflexive Research Practice

Research ethics is often encountered through processes, requirements and decisions: gaining approval, securing consent, protecting participants and meeting professional and institutional expectations. Yet ethical research asks more of us than procedural compliance.

This webinar explores what it means to engage with ethics as an ongoing, reflexive dimension of research practice. Drawing on the Academy of Ethicality’s Research Ethics Guidance and associated reflective resources, we will consider how researchers can remain attentive to themselves, others and the wider relational, cultural and systemic contexts in which research takes place.

Rather than presenting ethical reflection as something completed at a particular stage of a research project, the session invites participants to consider ethics as something that accompanies the researcher throughout: noticing assumptions and tensions, questioning what may be taken for granted, attending to voice and power, discerning possible pathways, taking responsibility for consequences, and learning from what unfolds.

The webinar will introduce the guidance as a reflective resource and invite researchers and practitioners to explore how it might support their own ethical-reflexive research practice.
