A Global Resource for Public Understanding of Coaching
The Coaching Ethics Forum is pleased to announce the release of Coaching: A Guide for the Curious — a collaboratively authored and globally endorsed resource designed to support greater public understanding of the coaching profession.
Developed through a year of international roundtable discussions hosted by the Coaching Ethics Forum, this document brings together insights from accrediting bodies, coaching leaders, and ethics-focused practitioners across sectors and regions. It is published in Issue 3 of Ethical Edge Insights and endorsed by the Guardians of the Field of Coaching.
Coaching: A Guide for the Curious is freely available to download and share. It offers a clear and accessible introduction to what coaching is (and isn’t), how it works, who does it, and what to consider when choosing a coach. It also outlines key distinctions in credentialing, ethical practice, and the evolving role of coaching in today’s world.
The guide is intended for:

- Current and potential users of coaching
- Organisations seeking to understand professional coaching
- The broader public
This is a living document, created with a commitment to clarity, accessibility, and ongoing evolution in response to a rapidly changing field.
