About the Academy of Ethicality

The Academy of Ethicality cultivates ethicality in professional life, leadership, coaching, education, wellbeing, and technologically mediated practice.

Ethics Beyond the Code™ is the Academy’s flagship developmental programme, supporting practitioners to deepen ethical discernment, relational awareness, responsibility, and practice in increasingly complex professional environments.

What is Ethicality?

Ethics Beyond the Code™ explores not only ethics as a body of knowledge, but ethicality as a lived professional practice. Ethicality concerns how we perceive, discern, and act in situations where there may be competing responsibilities, uncertainty, complexity, and pressure.

The programme is informed by Wendy-Ann Smith’s published scholarship exploring ethicality in relation to identity and becoming, intentionality, wellbeing, professional practice and development. This body of work provides an evolving theoretical foundation for understanding ethicality not simply as knowledge of ethics or adherence to professional codes, but as something cultivated and enacted through the person and their practice.

Certificate and Diploma Pathways

Ethics Beyond the Code™ offers a progression of learning pathways, beginning with the Foundation Certificate and extending through Professional Certificate and Diploma options. Participants may choose a pathway that aligns with their current interests and professional goals, or progressively build their learning over time through advanced study, reflection, and integration.
