David Clutterbuck is one of the few still active pioneers of coaching and mentoring. Co-founder of the EMCC, for which he is now lifetime Special Ambassador. He is author of more than 75 books and has held a variety of visiting professorships and other academic roles, including Distinguished Principal Research Fellow in Human Capital at The Conference Board.
He has trained hundreds of “ethical mentors” — leaders, who support colleagues in working through ethical dilemmas.
What is it about ethics—or the Coaching Ethics Forum—that resonates with you? Why does this work matter to you personally and professionally, and how do you see yourself contributing to the conversation through CEF?
Ethics for me is the core of what it means to be an authentic human being. It is about achieving consonance between the values we hold and the life we lead. It’s also about how we influence the world around us in positive ways — for example, by nurturing reflective practice in others. The Forum provides a platform for coaches and mentors to reflect upon their own ethical identity and how they support others in achieving the same.
